WHERE TO STAY IN ARUSHA PARK
The AfricanMecca Safari Tiers help you find the best accommodation for your needs. Each tier indicates the quality of service, lodging, food, activities, location, guiding standards and other characteristics of your desired accommodation. The type of lodging that you chose also influences your experience, and in Arusha National Park, AfricanMecca guests only have the option of staying at Hatari Lodge – Tier 2, as a reliably consistent and tourist focused accommodation, located on the northeastern border of the park.
A relatively low quality Momella Lodge exists close to Hatari Lodge, but we do not recommend guests stay there. However, if you venture out to stay in the city of Arusha, less than 20 miles from the park gate, you would find a diversity of accommodation options and an opportunity of a full day safari to Arusha National Park from the bounds of the growing city; This comes with some drawbacks - the first disadvantage is if you choose to stay in Arusha city, you are not in the wilderness area of a park but a bustling city area.
Second, you will also miss the opportunity of an early morning and evening game viewing experience where maximal wildlife activity is encountered as you will have to drive from the city to the park for your game viewing and returning to the city in the early evening. Third, you will miss the chance of seeing game from the doorstep of your accommodation at all times – all away from the city traffic and pollution.
As with all AfricanMecca Safari Tier 2 accommodations, Hatari Lodge offers a small number of guest rooms, 9 to be exact. With so few guests, you enjoy personalized service, and whatever your pleasure, the professional and courteous staff are available to help you make your safari dreams come true! The decor of the rooms and common areas reflect the design trends of the time when the movie Hatari! was filmed -- specifically, the 1960s and 1970s, yet the lodge also provides you with modern retro conveniences.
The cuisine at Hatari Lodge is a flavorful combination of international and local ingredients, and meals are served buffet style or a-la-carte family-style. You may even choose to enjoy a picnic lunch during your safari outings, and private bush meals can be organized for you. The lounge, restaurant and small library at Hatari are relaxing spaces to enjoy conversation with other guests or reflect upon your exploration and discovery of East Africa's incredible beauty.
The lodge is well-situated bordering the park, giving you convenient access to the prime locations within the park, such as Mount Meru Crater, Ngurdoto Crater, Momella Lakes, just to name a few, and you also have grandiose views of the landscape at any point on the lodge property. Hatari Lodge offers game drives, canoeing and walking safaris with expert guides so that you may observe the wildlife and relish every vacationing moment of your magical experience in Africa.

AfricanMecca's professionalism and care understands that what distinguishes Africa is its authenticity, the land, people and wildlife who do not share our world of fashion and fanfare that distinguish so many travel companies today.

EAST AFRICA SAFARI BOOKING TRIP IDEA FOR ARUSHA IN NORTHERN TANZANIA
When visiting Arusha, we recommend experiencing some of the surrounding Arusha attractions and cultural activities before your Northern Tanzania safari to Serengeti (wildebeest migration), Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara and Tarangire. You may hike Mount Meru or Mount Kilimanjaro to experience a full day trek or multiple days climb, or even explore Arusha National Park for an adventurous canoeing experience on Momella Lakes combined with a game drive. End your trip with a Swahili cultural tour and beach holiday in Zanzibar.
You may optionally extend out to offbeat parks in Southern and Western Tanzania such as Nyerere (Selous), Ruaha or Katavi ending with a chimpanzee trekking safari at Gombe or Mahale by the relaxing Lake Tanganyika.
