WHERE TO STAY IN TARANGIRE PARK
Tarangire accommodations come in two main types, lodges and tented camps, and in 3 Safari Tiers from super luxurious, mid-range deluxe to cost-conscious. All provide comfortable beds, en-suite bathrooms, solid furnishings, private patios and mosquito protection, with running water, lighting and various levels of personal service. All have central reception units with lounge, dining area and bar whilst others have swimming pools.
Tarangire Tented & Bush Camp Experiences
Traditional Tented and Bush Camps in Tarangire are designed to have a minimal impact on the local ecology, whilst providing an authentic safari experience in East Africa, with nostalgic overtones of the Colonial era combined with modern standards of comfort and convenience. They are canvas suites usually canvas pitched on wooden or stone platforms. An upmarket Safari Tier 1 luxury camp, such as Oliver’s camp, caters for discerning AfricanMecca clients seeking the standard expected of pioneering camps in the 1930s supplemented with a rustic boutique ambience.Unsurpassable personal service combines with true wilderness ambience and adventure. High premium standards of bush cuisine and safari guiding guarantee a satisfying reproduction of African travel nearly a century ago. At a similar Tier 1 Safari level, but with a totally different atmosphere, is the ultimate luxury of Swala Camp, where canvas pavilions exemplify modern design, and facilities such as Wi-Fi, European cuisine and a swimming pool augment the closeness to nature encouraged by an adjacent waterhole and wildlife wandering at will.
Kikoti Safari Camp is a deluxe moderate accommodation set at Safari Tier 2, more involved with the indigenous population, very comfortable and convenient, but offering less personalization with fixed dinner menus and buffets. Value comfort camps are set at Safari Tier 3, such as Lake Burunge Tented Camp and Maramboi Tented Camp cater for larger numbers of clients in greater outskirts of the Tarangire ecosystem requiring extra time to get to the park gate.
Tarangire Lodge Experiences
Lodges in Tarangire are solidly built from local materials as cottage units around a main reception area in order to benefit from better temperature control in hotter and more humid areas. They present all amenities limited only by their site and again, vary in standards of accommodation. At Safari Tier 1 is Tarangire Treetops offering widely spaced individual suites built into ancient baobab trees with every possible luxury during your adventure safari in Tarangire. At Safari Tier 2, The Eco-Science Centre and Luxury Lodge features links to ecological research, with Belgian Cuisine and a Grand piano in the lounge, while the utilitarian Tarangire Safari Lodge has non-frill hybrid rooming and common facilities for around 80 to 100 guests – best suited as a Safari Tier 3 experience. Differences in value are calculated in accordance to levels of exclusivity, site, and service.
Although all provide basic amenities to a good standard, they vary wildly in location and character, some indulgently luxurious, some practical and less personalized, some quirky and individual to an extreme, but all provide unforgettable points of contact with a land, a culture and a history that are different from our own, yet unavoidably part of everyone who shares the genetic heritage of the first men who started the long trek to the mecca of civilization right here in the Great African Rift Valley, some 17000 years ago.
The above are just sample accommodation experiences in Tarangire. See below scroller for details on your preferred camp or lodge in Tarangire.

AfricanMecca's professionalism and care understands that what distinguishes Africa is its authenticity, the land, people and wildlife who do not share our world of fashion and fanfare that distinguish so many travel companies today.
