In western Serengeti, the Grumeti River dictates wildlife behavior, from the resident animals that rely on it for water and vegetation to the wildebeest migration, all of which lend to a spectacular safari experience for AfricanMecca guests. Wildlife corridors are critical for allowing fauna to pass between areas for grazing and predatory hunting, and many private reserves and concessions have been introduced to extend the boundaries of protection. One of the most breathtaking of these private areas is Grumeti Reserve.
Right in the heart of this spectacular and exclusive private game reserve cushioning the Western Corridor of the Serengeti in Tanzania’s northernmost park, resides one of the region's best kept secrets - The Singita Faru Faru Lodge, a luxury accommodation for discerning bush travelers. Tucked away in the beating African wild, in a private reserve that sweeps over some 350,000 acres of pristine, entirely unspoiled wilderness, the Singita Faru Faru Lodge safari in the Serengeti is an experience that should be on the top of the list for any premium dream holiday.
This charismatic and unusual riverine lodge is located right on the Great Migration pathway, the site where mass herds - literally over 1.5 million wildebeests with thousands of zebras, impalas and gazelles make their way around the wild Serengeti plains each year, to cross over the treacherous Mara River into the Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya – also part of the Serengeti ecosystem.
Accommodation At Singita Faru Faru Lodge
What makes the Singita Faru Faru stand out on any African wild and adventurous tour is the lodge’s exceptional positioning in one of East Africa’s most desirable and pristine wilderness areas. Perched on a gentle slope, the lodge is beautifully set overlooking a waterhole, giving you the chance to experience the ebb and flow of nature without leaving the comfort of your armchair. Each of the lodge's nine canvas tented suites comes with twin overhead fans, for those warm Serengeti nights. The suite overlooks the wilderness across a panoramic glass panel, perfect for you to chill out and relax with a cold drink or tea/coffee watching the sunset on the horizon - the ultimate in Africa experiences.
Part of the nine private suites exists a two-bedroom exclusive 2-bedroom suite with a secluded private pool which is perfect for families on safari of four adults traveling together. Also available is a family suite that can accommodate two adults and two children sleeping together. The room has a canopy bed, lounge area, writing desk while the bathroom hosts a his and her basin alongside a chic bath tub. The room walls are made of naturally occurring materials including wood and stone.
Ensuring luxurious comfort always that blends in traditional African decor with Danish twist, there is every modern convenience at and around the main area. Wireless Internet access, BBQ areas, a comfortable lounge bar overlooking the Serengeti plains and even a library, cater for every creature comfort required. A spa is available for the relaxers, two swimming pools, safari gym for the actives and a television in the main lounge area for the electronic watchers.
Safari At Singita Faru Faru Lodge
Game driving in the private reserve of Serengeti National Park is the main activity at the Singita Faru Faru Lodge supplemented with optional bush walks to round out your nature vacation experience with AfricanMecca. The lodge’s enviable exclusive position means that AfricanMecca guests may be lucky enough to get up close and personal with the legendary Big 5 more than once, and the wildebeest migration when visiting in its appropriate season (around April to June with spills over in part of July).Walking safaris with experienced Tanzania guides are a popular way to experience the wildlife from a completely different and totally intimate perspective embracing wildlife tracks, sounds and smells of Serengeti – both small and large complemented with striking floral display. Walking safaris are led by specialists’ guides who are highly skilled, experienced and knowledgeable. Game drives enable guides to cover a vast amount of the plains, unlike bush walks, ensuring that you get to see as much as possible and as many different wild animals as possible. They will know the best spots and the right time of day to catch up with them.
For those who want to experience the Serengeti in a memorable way, a balloon safari is the way to go. This specialist African safari excursion needs to be booked in advance and will take you floating right over the expansive savannah plains with migrants and resident wildlife beneath -- uninterrupted, non-intrusive and aerially accessible.

The Singita Faru Faru Lodge ensures that each meal is a sumptuous affair, prepared using locally sourced and organically grown natural ingredients. Morning tea and coffee are served in your suite at day break along with freshly baked biscuits. After your morning activity trip into the Serengeti bush for a game drive, you are greeted with a huge African bush breakfast - everything from waffles, to eggs, hash browns and bacon, freshly baked bread, freshly brewed coffee, fruit platters, local cheeses, fresh fruit juices, jams and toast.Tasty lunch platters are served on the terrace. For sundowners - a glass of wine, cocktail, juices, carbonated drinks or warm beverages can be enjoyed out in the bush or by the pool side as the heat of the day cools, or even on the terraced deck overlooking the waterhole, watching the animals as they come to drink. Dinner may be served under the romantic leafy tree boughs; lamp lights flickering in the night air, the sweeping carpet of twinkling stars above and the ice melting in your drink are some of the gastronomical highlights.
