GUIDE ON ROVING BUSHTOPS IN SERENGETI
Navigation Tip - Go Directly To Prices, Reviews, Map, Photos, Video & Room Rate Guide For Roving Bushtops
Jutting from the soil of central Serengeti are the Kopjes of Moru, natural landmarks that stand out on the landscape, much to the intrigue of backcountry travelers. The granite giants appear to have broken through the fertile soil of the savannah plains, and these incredible formations are favorite vantage points for massive feline hunters. When combined with rolling hills and natural water sources, this is the landscape that has become iconic of Africa.
Abundant water and grasses support a large population of herbivores that are constantly under the watchful eye of lions, leopards, cheetahs and other elusive predators. From May-June and December-January, the animal population of the region explodes, as more than 1.5 million wildebeests, accompanied by thousands of zebras, enter the central area as part of the Serengeti migration heading west and south respectively.
Roving Bushtops is a premium tented accommodation that not only puts you in the midst of the action in the soul and heart of Serengeti National Park, but also ensures that you will savor every moment of your luxury frill vacation in Tanzania. The exclusive eight-tent camp is based in Seronera’s wilderness, an area commonly known as the “crown jewel of Serengeti.” Following a tradition popular among early safari adventurers in the most remote areas of East Africa, Roving Bushtops reposition its tents in central and south-central towards Kusini, depending on the annual movement.
Accommodation At Roving Bushtops
The utmost personal service, boutique accommodations, superb viewing, breathtaking scenery and so much more awaits you at Roving Bushtops in Serengeti. You enjoy an utterly tranquil safari holiday sprinkled with high-energy outings into the bush country. Eight mobile rover tents are mounted on wooden platforms that encircle the indoor sleeping and lounging areas. The shaded verandah is completely covered with canvas, using an artistic and contemporary design. Set about the wooden verandah are loungers, modern wood chairs with soft, elegant curves, and small tables for your wine, cognac and spirits. Inside are king-size beds and an ensuite bathroom, complete with bathtub, shower, flush toilet, dual vessel sinks, vanity, mirrors and much more.No detail has been missed at Roving Bushtops! A butler stands ready to meet your every wish, and the views from your bed are simply stunning. The tents open on three sides for panoramic views and can be closed at night for privacy and comfort. The comfort conveniences include 24-hour electricity, a hair dryer and a personal safe for your belongings. The wheeled design also allows for the tents to be configured into larger family tents for parents who are traveling with children in the African wilderness. Roving Bushtops has a large central mess tent, which houses the lounge, dining area, bar and library.
Safari At Roving Bushtops
Roving Bushtops specializes in game drives in several areas of the Serengeti ecosystem (best time to visit). The camp is always located near the largest concentrations of wildlife, so the drives do not involve long journeys to reach the animals. As quickly as you leave the boundaries of the camp, you are surrounded by giraffes, elephants, zebras, lions, leopards and other resident wildlife. These majestic creatures are joined by vast herds of wildebeests and zebras during the time when the Great Migration traverses the area.If you prefer a private safari in Tanzania, safari vehicles can be booked by guests on an exclusive-use basis, so it is only your group, a skilled spotter and an expert ranger traversing all that Serengeti offers. The path you take through the landscape depends on your personal wishes and the expertise of your escorts. As you travel across the wilderness, you may wonder how it feels to soar high above the plains.
At Roving Bushtops, you needn’t wonder, because you can actually do just that. AfricanMecca Safaris can arrange a hot-air balloon trip across the breathtaking Serengeti plains. The balloon safaris begin early in the morning and last for about one hour. Upon landing, you are treated to yet another safari tradition — a lovely bush breakfast that begins with a celebratory champagne toast!
Dining At Roving Bushtops
Delectable delights abound at Roving Bushtops. The chef prepares a daily menu of a la carte dishes made with locally sourced seasonal ingredients. A hearty and satisfying breakfast of sausages, eggs cooked to order, organic cereals, fresh fruits, waffles and other fare alleviates the hunger built during your morning game drive. The camp can also set up a bush breakfast as part of your morning outing. Platters of meats, cheeses, fruits and more are set out at lunchtime for you to nibble while watching the wildlife seek shade during the warm afternoon. Tea and biscuits are served in the late day, just before your game drive activity to see the pre-darkness activity in the mighty Serengeti ecosystem.Enhance your day’s adventures with an age-old tradition that was started by Africa’s early European explorers and still a part of every bush tour — sunset cocktails at a superb vantage point for watching the skies change through a kaleidoscope of colors. As darkness sets in, your guide escorts you back to the safari vehicle and safely returns you to camp. The aromas from the dining tent tempt your taste buds, and as you enter the candlelit setting, you see an array of meats, vegetables, salads, soups and desserts all skillfully and professionally prepared by the chef. You can dine with other guests, in your tent or next to an acacia decorated with lanterns under the African stars.

What We Like About Roving Bushtops
- Roving Bushtops is a luxury accommodation in central Serengeti that treats discerning guests with the utmost attention, delectable food, breathtaking landscapes, unparalleled wildlife experiences and much more.
- The camp also moves with the Great Migration to the south-central plains towards Kusini providing guests the best possible chance to see the massive herds.
- Food and service are exceptional at the camp. You can indulge in the services of masseuse to relax those muscles. There is also a dip bath in each tent.
- Roving Bushtops strategically operates in an area that has an abundance of resident species.
- This camp primarily caters to upmarket guests who desire a premium experience in central Serengeti.
Things To Note When Staying At Roving Bushtops
- Prices are on the higher side as a premium luxury camp; though, offers excellent value for the experience Roving Bushtops consistently delivers.
- The camp has only eight tents and may book quickly for the peak season — we recommend reserving the property at least 12 to 18 months in advance.
- This property serves all travelers i.e. families with children age 7 and above, honeymooners, couples and solo travelers. With the tents on wheels structure, two double tents can be combined as a family tent.
- The camp design is contemporary and may not appeal to guests who desire an authentic bush camp ambience.
- There has been hiccups where guests have missed seeing the migration due to the location of the camp i.e. the migratory wildebeests have moved south to Ndutu, and are not located in Kusini.

AfricanMecca's professionalism and care understands that what distinguishes Africa is its authenticity, the land, people and wildlife who do not share our world of fashion and fanfare that distinguish so many travel companies today.
