AIYANA RESORT IN PEMBA
Navigation Tip - Go Directly To Prices, Reviews, Map, Photos, Video & Room Rate Guide For Aiyana Resort
On the northern tip of Pemba Island in southern Tanzania lies a pristine white sand beach that is untouched by touristy inhabitation and caressed by the superb blue of the Indian Ocean. This is the setting of the idyllic location of the Aiyana Resort Pemba, a boutique holiday stayover that has been almost entirely crafted out of naturally occurring materials sourced from the island and ocean. You will see old ngalawas or fishing boats, coral stones and limestone, mangrove and coconut wood and many other materials transformed into works of art. Local craftspersons have added their centuries-old expertise and imaginative skills into creating elegant inner spaces that seem to blend seamlessly into the beautifully landscaped gardens surrounding the hotel. The Aiyana offers a selection of individual deluxe villas (80 to 160 square meters) where discerning AfricanMecca travelers can stay and enjoy the incredible tranquility of the island. With intricately Swahili carved doorways, relief designs on the walls and a decor that reflects the spirit of Mother Nature, the 30 spacious white villas weave an ambience of purity around you. You will have your own living area and a little, covered porch outside where you can sit and revel in the beauty and fragrances of myriad blooms. Go for a long walk on the beach as the clear waters of the ocean tickle your toes while viewing the tiny coral-green isles sitting in the water close to the edge of the sands. You could also take pictures of the exquisite seashells left behind by the ebbing tide or revel in the romantic twilight vistas of traditional fishing dhows with their triangular sails floating in the ocean. You can look forward to delicious, wholesome meals cooked with fresh farm and sea produce served with a choice of wines. Choose different settings for your meals such as in the accommodation restaurant, in a quiet spot in the garden, in your room or on the beachfront. Enjoy lunch under the shade of a makuti parasol or dinner under the twinkling African stars. The stillness and serenity of the hotel are just a prelude to the verdant beauty of the island that you will enjoy when vacationing on it. Pemba is the world's largest producer of cloves, and on your explorations around the island; you will sense the aroma of the spices. Visit Misali Island and you will be enveloped in the thrill of possibly finding treasure hidden here by the infamous pirate, Captain Kidd. Next, you could tour with an AfricanMecca guide the indigenous rainforest at Ngezi, home to a wonderful diversity of flora along with the famous flying foxes, a species of fruit bats endemic to the island. Around Pemba, there are varied snorkeling and scuba diving sites where you could explore seemingly miles of gorgeous coral gardens, teeming with reef creatures in an unbelievable array of colors and shapes. Go on a fishing trip in the distinct deep-water areas including the famed Pemba Channel under the direction of an experienced skipper, and you might meet some of the famous game fish of the Indian Ocean – varied marlins, yellowfin tuna, swordfish to sailfish and much more. Water sports enthusiasts can spend energetic hours going windsurfing, kayaking and wakeboarding. End your East African island holiday with a cultural shopping foray in the tiny dukas of the island's market. Back at Aiyana Resort, you can go on a Ngalawa sunset cruise that ends with a barbeque seaside dinner.
