KIA LODGE NEAR KILIMANJARO AIRPORT
Navigation Tip - Go Directly To Prices, Reviews, Map, Photos, Video & Room Rate Guide For KIA Lodge
Traveling to Africa for your Tanzania nature safari may leave you exhausted. Staying at a comfortable hotel near the international airport means that, within minutes of landing, you are able to rest quickly from a long haul flight and regain your energy on wake up. KIA Lodge is the closest airport hotel, less than 5 minutes from the Kilimanjaro International Airport located between the towns of Arusha and Moshi (around 60-90 minutes away).
The 40 guest rooms are situated inside charming brick and thatch cottages. Each room is air conditioned, and the windows allow natural light to fill the room. You have adequate furnishings and amenities for your stay, such as twin or double beds, chair, nightstand, private bathroom, personal safe, mosquito netting and in-room telephone. The décor includes beautiful Makonde woodcarvings and renowned Tinga Tinga paintings to illustrate some of the traditional native artwork that you may often see during your cultural holiday in East Africa. The rooms are clean with firm mattress beds.
Sometimes power to generate air conditioning and hot water are intermittently unavailable – do not expect 24 X 7 100% availability – KIA Lodge has slipped on this service lately due to the consistent power outages in Tanzania with minimal hotel generator use. AfricanMecca recommends some insisting and prompting of generator use at most times for its guests; however, such inconsistent service levels are occasionally expected out of a value accommodation when no serious airport hotel competition is around.
KIA Lodge also offers day rooms and children are always welcome at the lodge. Souvenirs and basic travel necessities are available in the gift shop, and you may access wireless internet in any of the common areas.
For your dining and lounging pleasure, KIA Lodge features a tropical restaurant and open bar. The remote location of KIA Lodge gives you few choices for meals; at the hotel, the enjoyable food reflects continental, international and African cuisine. You may dine indoors or out in the open air with a great view of the Kilimanjaro. The open bar serves a selection of cocktails, wines and even local beers, and the lounge and the pool areas are an excellent place to enjoy spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro and the gorgeous sunset.
After a day tour of Arusha with your AfricanMecca guide, the hilltop swimming pool offers a refreshing escape from the Tanzanian heat and breathtaking views of the natural surroundings. Because this scenic Tanzania accommodation is located at the top of a hill, you always enjoy expansive views of Maasai savannah plains, Mount Kilimanjaro, Mount Meru and the other undulating areas.
The lodge property attracts over 100 species of birds, and guests notate their sightings on a guest bulletin board. If you see an avian species that has not been documented by guests, you have the great pleasure of recording your sighting for all future guests! Before you set off on your AfricanMecca safari experience to Serengeti, Ngorongoro, you may have time for a day trip to Arusha National Park or Mount Kilimanjaro National Park (read more on when is the best time to visit Arusha Park for a Tanzanian safari).

AfricanMecca's professionalism and care understands that what distinguishes Africa is its authenticity, the land, people and wildlife who do not share our world of fashion and fanfare that distinguish so many travel companies today.
