SNORKELING TOUR EXPERIENCE IN WATAMU WITH AFRICANMECCA
Many of the renowned hotels in Watamu like Hemingways Resort, Ocean Sports Resort and Turtle Bay Beach Club are located in the north portion of the park, making it slightly busy during the higher tourism season and you may find boats taking other visitors out onto the deeper water for diving, sailing and fishing and this is also where you will find Turtle and Larder Reefs and the Pothole.
The main Coral Gardens are located in the central portion and buoys have been set up to give boats places to tie up while guests go snorkeling. AfricanMecca Safaris recommends that only experienced snorkelers plan their activities in the southern region of the marine park near the entrance to Mida Creek as the tidal flow in and out of the creek inlet may create much greater currents.
The most distinctive site to snorkel is the Rock Cod Caves and we can assist you with getting the necessary written permission from the park warden with prior notice. The marine life is most abundant at neap and low tide and you should venture deep into the underwater hollows during low tide if you want to see some of the more unique fish species, endemic to Kenya.

BEST TIME TO VISIT WATAMU
We consider July to October to be the best time to visit, as this is the longest dry season with cool coastal conditions and the skies are clear and sunny, but Watamu is a beautiful all year round.
