SUGUTA VALLEY TOUR EXPERIENCES IN THE NORTHERN FRONTIER WITH AFRICANMECCA
The floor of the valley is broken only by occasional volcanic cinder cones and geological features to the east and west that rise to elevations of 3300 feet. The surreal landscape is dominated by two distinct geological features – Mount Ngiro to the east and Barrier Volcano to the north that provides a natural divider between the valley and Lake Turkana.
The valley, though, is not completely lifeless. At the seasonal Lake Logipi in the northern section of the lake, flamingos are observed gathering along the shoreline and in the alkaline shallow water. The other primary points of interest are the spectacular Cathedral Rock, odd mushroom-shaped formations and extensive sand dunes. The most direct entry into the valley is by helicopter.
The wild voyagers arriving independently arrange for an ad hoc local herder and its donkeys to walk them down into the valley from the surrounding highlands; though, AfricanMecca Safaris does not recommend searching for a stranger herder for your personal well-being and also due to the unreliability of service in such a remote location.

The Northern Frontier has varied wildernesses, each with a distinct accommodation. In Lake Turkana, we recommend Lobolo Camp. Namunyak only has two camps: Sarara and Kitch. Desert Rose is sited on Mount Oldonyo Nyiru.

When visiting Northern Frontier, we recommend combining your safari to Masai Mara for the wildebeest migration, Amboseli, Samburu or Laikipia - Lewa, Nakuru, Elementaita, and Naivasha - Great Rift Valley Lakes. You can also climb the 2nd highest mountain in Africa: Mount Kenya.
