GUIDE ON KITICH FOREST CAMP IN KENYA
Navigation Tip - Go Directly To Prices, Reviews, Map, Photos, Video & Room Rate Guide For Kitich Forest Camp
For an intimate experience with the natural beauty of the pristine and rugged Northern Frontier, Kitich Forest Camp offers guests a rare insight into the outback habitats of authentic Kenyan wilderness. Situated within the dense forests of Matthews Mountains Range, the 6-tent accommodation offers the deluxe sophistication made popular by the most-romantic tales of “Out of Africa”. With a canopy of surrounding indigenous trees, your tent features tranquility and calm that connects AfricanMecca adventurers with the virgin landscape. For your dream holiday in this expanse of East Africa, choose from three double tents and three twin tents, each with ensuite bathroom. Inspired by the open landscape outside, your tent is specially designed so that you have a relaxing Northern Frontier trip without feeling crowded or disturbed. The split floor plan seamlessly blends the sleeping and bath areas. The large bed is set upon a wood platform with a shelf integrated into the headboard while beautiful pattern rugs add touches of color to the space. The bathroom area features a shower, single-sink wooden vanity with space for your toiletries, as well as a bench for your convenience. Plenty of hot water is available so that you can easily freshen up with a part outdoor shower. Heated water is delivered to the back or front of your tent by staff, leaving you in complete privacy. The Ngeng Gorge close to the camp is where a seasonal river flows. Families may prefer the two guest tents that are situated close together. The smaller twin-bedded tents have limited space, so they may only be appropriate for solo travelers in Kenya or families with teen children. The accommodation surrounds are dark at night due to its location, and for your safety, guards are always available to escort you between your tent and the common areas. If you need to stay connected to the outside world, limited WiFi is available in the main office, but there is little to no cell phone reception. There is an abundance of untouched wilderness allowing you to feel further inspired to indulge in the surroundings and disconnect or detoxify from the outside world completely. Aromatic coffee and tea are brought to your tent as the sun peeks over the horizon – a perfect start to your engaging walking tour of the Northern Frontier. Take a moment to quietly absorb the glorious setting before meeting with your guide for a morning nature walk. Due to its terrain and remoteness, Kitich Forest Camp does not offer game drives so all activities are surrounding by foot trailing to explore its wilderness. The chef prepares a daily set menu, and you may have breakfast in the bush or return to camp to join other guests. When your appetite is satisfied by the edible morning delights, take a swim in the rock pools, find a quiet place to relax and take in the scenery or return to your tent for some reading and rest. The aroma of freshly baked breads signals the lunch meal, and in the dining area are other wonderful dishes prepared with fresh, organic ingredients. For a truly remarkable AfricanMecca bush safari experience, the staff can arrange a bush picnic in conjunction with a guided walk through the forest. Afternoon tea is followed by an end of day activity where your guide will discover signs of wildlife, such as scat, prints, carcasses and much more, and we also recommend a visit to the local Ngalai Village where you learn about the Samburu and their ancient traditions. It is imperative to note that Kitich is not a wildlife focused vacation experience rather than a permutation of off-beat experiences from swimming in the wild, hiking hills, walking safaris and cultural visits (read more on when is the best time to go to Northern Frontier). Return to the camp for sundowners while absorbing the best of nature at twilight. A delectable dinner followed by cocktails around the fire is a delightful way to meet new friends and share stories before slumbering off into a peaceful sleep in your tent.
