Navigation Tip - Go Directly To Prices, Reviews, Map, Photos, Video & Room Rate Guide For Sanctuary Olonana
The dramatic views of the Mara River from Sanctuary Olonana Camp set the tone for your luxury holiday in Masai Mara. As you walk into the reception-lounge area with its center tree, you are embraced by a décor that showcases the vivid colors that are often used in native designs, as well as traditional techniques that are used by the Maasai in constructing their homes. Before checking in, take a moment to watch the hippos in the river from the large viewing deck, and you will know that you stand among some of Kenya’s most pristine and wild country. For your ultimate Kenya vacation, this boutique accommodation features 14 tents that include two honeymoon suites and family rooms with two separate beds. Each spacious tent features wooden planked floors upon which a gorgeous four-poster bed is placed, invoking thoughts of a peaceful and tranquil sleep among nature’s very best. The bed is draped in mosquito netting that not only serves a practical purpose, but also evokes classic romance. Other furnishings include nightstands, bedside lamps, luggage rack, benches at the end of the bed and deep, comfy armchair. The en-suite bathroom is bathed in neutral tones and features double vanity, mirror, towel racks, shower and flush toilet. The honeymoon suite is a private AfricanMecca safari retreat that features an outdoor rain shower that is partially enclosed with natural brick. The space is veiled from other guests and staff by the surrounding vegetation, yet you still have verdant views of the bush. The whiff of freshly brewed coffee and tea awakens your senses each morning. Golden light fills your tent, signaling the dawn of a new day. Spend time on your private verandah to feel your soul embraced by the Mara River before dressing for your morning game drive. Your guide’s intimate and personal knowledge of the bush is the key to a premier safari tour of Masai Mara Game Reserve. You watch elephants, giraffes, Thomson’s gazelles, zebras, impalas, buffalos and other foliage eaters meander across the plains in search of a morning meal. Hippos slowly immerse themselves in the water until only a hint of their enormous bodies is visible while crocodiles head out to the banks to bask. With jaw-dropping accuracy and from a distance, your guide discerns lions, hyenas, cheetahs, leopards and other predators from the dense flora of the bush. As the morning passes, your appetite for divine food grows, and your may enjoy a bush breakfast or return to camp. Your game drive can also be extended to include a picnic lunch amidst the animals. Should you return to Sanctuary Olonana for breakfast, spend the rest of your morning reading, lounging, playback your photographs or being pampered in the spa. After lunch, you may return to these undertakings including cooling off in the pool or partake of a leisurely guided nature walk. After a bit of late-day tea and yummy delights, travel back out into Mara Triangle to observe the unique wildlife behaviors that occur before the skies grow dark. AfricanMecca can also organize nature-bird walks, local school visits, cultural visits and hot air balloon safaris from Olonana to give you a truly memorable trip in the wild plains of Kenya.
