The Singita Mara River Tented Camp is to be found in the Lamai Triangle by the Mara River in the northern most sector of the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania, world famous for its migration of over a million wildebeests and other hoofed herbivores, including thousands of zebra with pockets of impalas. It is an ideal base for a solemn Tanzania safari adventure with AfricanMecca, isolated in 98,000 acres of prime wilderness teeming with wildlife all year round. The Mara River crossing provides endless dramatic photo opportunities when massive herds plunge down steep banks to forge across the wide river in constant peril from ruthless crocodile lying in wait. The herds are also followed by vast numbers of opportunist predators. Cheetah, jackal, hyena, lion and leopard are all seen here, many throughout the year. Hippos are also found stationary bathing almost through the day in the Mara River as well as elephant, gazelle and giraffe on the sweeping, grassy plains of Serengeti. In this remote, untouched paradise, the camp is designed for minimal environmental impact together with maximum engagement with nature. It offers a pattern for sustainable living combined with a faultless standard of luxury and first-rated taste. Singita Mara River Camp safari is the classic tented tour experience elevated to new, responsible levels in keeping with the Singita philosophy of eco-premier tourism as demonstrated in its flagship accommodations at Singita Grumeti Reserve, farther west of Serengeti. This approach has enabled them obtain wildlife concessions from the Tanzanian Government to open up this sensitive area by building a small, eco-friendly camp in larger, less frequented areas. Quite literally “of the grid” electricity is provided by a photovoltaic power array of solar panels and long-life storage batteries.
Accommodation At Singita Mara River Tented Camp
Intended to accommodate independent travelers, safari honeymooners, small groups or families on a Serengeti trip to Tanzania with AfricanMecca, the tented camp has only six tents with 16 beds including two tents catered for families. Built entirely from recycled and sustainable natural materials including stone, wood, raw leather and canvas, the interiors are stunningly beautiful, spacious, lavish and utterly relaxing, a very important consideration on an Africa luxury safari. Seen from outside, this delightful small camp, designed by Cécile & Boyd’s, is neat and tidy, reminiscent of the King’s African Rifles, a functional East African colonial campaign structure. The interior is fully lined with cool cotton to give a totally relaxing ambient chic. Draped lounging sofas and deep chairs are covered in hand-woven, natural fabrics. The decor is focused on the best of contemporary African design and craft work, made by brilliant young artists, adding enormously to the enjoyment and appreciations of an African safari ambience by providing fresh insight into local creativity. Jacaranda wood is featured in imaginative lighting, together with retro wooden chests recalling 1930’s campaign equipment. Ornamental wire baskets reproduce the traditional form of baskets used for winnowing and sorting maize and other grain. This sense of funky boho-glamor, combining functionality with fun, is enhanced by primary and secondary colors of Maasai patterns mainly in black and white with a pinch of red contrasted by natural tones. All the tents are of white canvas with pale wood side-tables and desks, gray grass matting indoors and outer decking of weathered driftwood. Family tents each accommodate four people in two tents joined by a walkway to a united terrace and private viewing deck featuring slip-covered chairs, window screens and panoramic views. There are outdoor star & sky showers and indoor luxury baths. Two-person guest tents have outdoor baths with screen walls incorporating wooden viewing panels through which the wonderful views may be kept in sight. There are also spacious shaded deck areas. The main camp boasts a refreshing dip pool, sheltered lounge and generously furnished dining area with plenty of outdoor seating. An additional riverside viewing site will also be available for special evening dinners.Safari At Singita Mara River Tented Camp
Recommended Serengeti activities for your Tanzania tour include game viewing drives in specially designed, comfortable 4x4 safari vehicles with open sides for unobstructed outlook. These are available twice daily or optionally full day excursions. Guided walks with experienced trackers and guides can be taken at any time by arrangement. Star-gazing evenings in the bush, with hot cocoa are popular, or you can simply relax and watch from camp as life unfolds. In the long grass plains of the Serengeti, you may see lion cubs learning to stalk, or elegant giraffe stretching to nibble the branches of acacia trees. In the nearby river, there are hippo pods, and motionless crocodiles waiting for the definite opportunity to grasp the migrating wildebeests at lightning speed. There are always a vast number of beautiful birds, reptiles and insects. In the evening, small mammals wander close to the camp for protection. Of all Africa travel destinations, Singita Mara River Tented Camp in the Lamai area offers some of the best Africa photo safari opportunities because of its location in a remote and secluded venue that still allows you to access unrivalled views of the Great Migration. You could also extend your AfricanMecca tour to include other prime Singita destinations to experience the full range of well-designed eco-conscious accommodation offered in various parts of the Serengeti or Africa by these experienced and responsible eco-luxury hosts of camps.Dining At Singita Mara River Tented Camp

AfricanMecca's professionalism and care understands that what distinguishes Africa is its authenticity, the land, people and wildlife who do not share our world of fashion and fanfare that distinguish so many travel companies today.
