Angama Mara takes its name from the Kiswahili word, ‘Angama' which means ‘hanging in mid-air'. True to its name, it sits over the edge of the Great Rift Valley in south-western Kenya. Perched around three kopjes on the Ololoolo Escarpment, with the glorious landscape of the Masai Mara National Reserve spread at your feet, this premier accommodation offers you breathtaking views that change colors with the sunlight playing on them and fill your AfricanMecca dream vacation in Kenya with many memorable moments. Watch the seasonal Masai Mara migration (July to September) of the wildebeest, zebras, elands and gazelles flowing like a stream across the plains below you from the comfortable lookout post of your deck while brilliantly-colored hot air balloons waft in the early morning breeze before you. The luxury tents at Angama give you the fused authentic safari feel, having being made out of canvas with enchanting wooden parquet floors except for the extensive glass front wall that faces the landscape. Since this boutique camp is unfenced, animals roam around freely, and a Maasai guard will escort you to and from your room after dusk. Angama Mara comprises of two divided camp areas with a total of 30 tents (15 tents in each site), four of which are interlinked and suited for families bush traveling in Africa. Three children of 12 years and below can share a room, and one of the tents is specially equipped for the comfort of disabled guests. The en-suite bathroom includes an indoor shower and hairdryer for your use. Visit the camp’s wilderness gym for a rejuvenating workout session to burn off the hearty meals Angama provides and you enjoy those meals in the privacy of your room with your loved ones, in the indoor dining area or al fresco around the escarpment. The camp also has a swimming pool where you can cool-off outdoor or get a tan relaxing beside it. For an up, close and personal fauna experience, go on exploratory game drives in a custom-built safari vehicle with an expert seasoned Maasai guide on board. You will be fascinated by his in-depth knowledge of the animals that comes from a lifetime of living with them.
