GUIDE ON PORINI LION CAMP IN KENYA
Navigation Tip - Go Directly To Prices, Reviews, Map, Photos, Video & Room Rate Guide For Porini Lion Camp
Porini Lion Camp is a deluxe Kenya bush accommodation that is located in the private Olare Motorogi Conservancy along the banks of the Ntiakatek River. The camp is only a few kilometers from the reserve, so you have easy travel access for your game drives in the reserve during the migration season, as well as varied activities in the conservancy. Porini Lion offers 10 tents with all the necessary conveniences and comfortable furnishings, including double or single bed, basic trays with lamps as bedside tables, writing desk and chair. Your bathroom facility is located inside the tent for your convenience and includes wood vanity with pottery vessel sink and matching accessories, large mirror, shower enclosed by canvas and flush toilet. The lighting is solar-powered. A soft palette of muted pastels creates a soothing ambience that is much-needed after your action-adventure tour of Masai Mara National Reserve. A few steps outside and nature embraces you in the privacy of your personal verandah with safari-style chairs and table. One of the highlights of the accommodation is its river-facing tents are in close proximity to the resident hippos grazing at night and cooling off in the river during the day. Also, the tents that face the plains have the highest level of terrestrial wildlife activity in the morning. Some shaded tents are more secluded than others – something that you may wish to consider if you desire an intimate African holiday. Wi-Fi is available, but the connection is best in the tents nearest the common areas. AfricanMecca advises guests who are light sleepers that land animals and birds can be heard from your tent at night so earplugs are recommended! With such an abundance of wildlife and terrain to discover, you are sure to have an unforgettable vacation in Masai Mara Game Reserve! You need not set your alarm as coffee and tea are brought to your tent as part of your wake-up service. Take a few moments to take in the sights and sounds near your tent before heading out to meet with your guide. You travel in excellent comfort aboard a custom-fit safari vehicle as your guide takes you into the vast wilderness. Masai Mara is a premier East African safari destination due to the diversity and density of wildlife. Additionally, each year the Great Migration of wildebeests and zebras travel from the Serengeti through the area from July to October. Resident animals are noteworthy as well, including gazelles, elephants, hippos, giraffes, Cape buffaloes, elands and other herbivores. The high number of prey animals supports lions, cheetahs, leopards, hyenas and other ferocious carnivores including crocodiles. Your guide takes you to the finest vantage points to see the most sought-after animals (read more on when is the best time to travel to Masai Mara for an off-beat African safari). A mid-morning breakfast awaits you at camp, and then you have some time before lunch to freshen up, journal, read, lounge and much more. After your mid-day meal, you may wish to watch the activity at the hippo pool and along the river, meet new friends in the common areas, take a guided walk with a Maasai warrior or indulge in a short siesta before afternoon tea. Venture back out into the bush country for a late afternoon game drive to witness varied fauna behaviors and also those that reveal themselves at twilight. After sundowners, return to Porini Lion Camp for a tasty dinner and engaging conversation. The dark African skies may entice you to stargaze, retire for the night or once again join your guide for a night drive in the conservancy. AfricanMecca Safaris can also arrange a full day game drive trip into the reserve with picnic lunch, as well as hot air ballooning for a bird’s eye view of the plains that teem with resident and migratory fauna.
