GUIDE ON MAHALI MZURI IN KENYA
Navigation Tip - Go Directly To Prices, Reviews, Map, Photos, Video & Room Rate Guide For Mahali Mzuri
Mahali Mzuri is a premier Kenya boutique accommodation that is located in the Olare Motorogi Conservancy on the northern perimeter of Masai Mara National Reserve. Owned by Sir Richard Branson, the 12-tent camp is designed to offer guests superb quality in all aspects. The modern tent design is the first indication that you are in for a unique and luxurious vacation in Masai Mara. A roomy outdoor deck invites you to lounge in overstuffed crisp white sofas to soak in the private views of the natural wonders of the Mara wilderness. For those times when the scenery is best enjoyed with a cup of aromatic warm beverage or glass of wine, your deck also has two neo-loungers and a side table. The contemporary design elements continue inside your tent. The large space is well-defined with a comfy bed and inviting center sofa, as well as a chic en-suite bathroom that includes twin basin, shower, flush toilet and a relaxing bath with a view. The slick architecture is highlighted by the pure white linens and curtains. For our guests who desire up-close East African safari wildlife viewing from their tents, we recommend tents that are closest to the camp entry and also those furthest away, as this is where the resident fauna traverse with minimal cordon. You may even hear a bit of rustling outside as you sleep. For AfricanMecca guests with limited mobility, we recommend a tent that is in proximity to the main areas. The location ensures that you have a short and easy walk for dinner, meeting other guests in the lounge and evening campfire gatherings. Sir Richard Branson under the Virgin Limited Edition brand has spared no expense when designing the accommodation, including a tranquil infinity pool and spa. A day of your discerning African travel begins with a wake-up call that includes freshly baked goods served with coffee and tea – all delivered right to your tent! Warm yourself with the delightful drinks and edible creations before dressing. Your guide awaits your arrival at the custom-built tour vehicle that will take you into the wilderness – both in the conservancy and in the reserve (optional). You feel your spirit rise as you seen many of Kenya’s magnificent animals roam freely and unfettered. You are astonished by the depth and breadth of knowledge that is bestowed upon you by your guide. Your mind absorbs the information, as well as the sights and sounds of elephants, giraffes, Cape buffaloes, gazelles and the many other grazers and foragers. A puff of dust in the distance catches your eye, and your guide describes the scene. Two lion cubs playfully wrestle near the pride. Your guide explains lion behaviors and its varied characteristics, and also keeps you on the edge as he tries to track down cheetahs, leopards, hyenas and other carnivores during your game drive. From July to October, this incredible scene is further enhanced with vast herds of wildebeests and zebras that travel through the area as part of the Serengeti - Masai Mara Migration. Your appetite grows, and leaving such grand beauty behind is difficult, except that you may return later in the afternoon or early evening when nocturnal creatures arrive on scene (read more on when is the best time to visit Masai Mara for a Kenya wildlife safari). A bountiful breakfast welcomes you back to Mahali Mzuri, after which you return to your tent to freshen up and take a quick siesta or script your bush trip. Locally sourced produce and many other delectable goodies await you at lunch. You have some time before afternoon tea and your late day game activity to visit a nearby Maasai village, relax by the pool, read a good book and other soothing pastimes. Sundowners are a safari tradition that we highly recommend. Dinner is served underneath twinkling stars or indoors in the dining tent. The camp chef can even prepare a romantic, private dinner for two! Other bush holiday activities that AfricanMecca recommends for your multi-day tour of Masai Mara Game Reserve are hot air ballooning, bush walks and night game drives.
