Navigation Tip - Go Directly To Prices, Reviews, Map, Photos, Video & Room Rate Guide For Kicheche Bush Camp
Set in sprawling trees and savannah grasslands amidst the merged 32,900 acre Olare Motorogi Conservancy is Kicheche Bush Camp, a small-sized wilderness accommodation comprising of just 6 spacious tents sited in a tranquil location for your authentic safari holiday in the outback of Kenya. Thorny acacia trees with their flat tops provide cool shade for camp that operates in keeping with the Maasai tradition of deep respect for nature. Animals roam freely and you might find buffalos, wildebeests and zebras roving about while askaris (Maasai guards) patrol the camp environs. Spend your time as you wish either lounging in the roomy lounge that also doubles as an indoor dining area, its lovely African decor fashioning a subtle cultural ambience. Or pick out a book from their library for a leisurely read before you go exploring in the bush. You choose the day’s activities and when you are ready for a game drive, a custom-built safari vehicle will be provided to you. Your skilled and knowledgeable Maasai guide will accompany you on the game drive to show you around the land he loves so much. As he talks of his growing years in the Masai Mara environs, you will be treated to anecdotes that reveal his keen knowledge of the diversity of fauna that abounds in the conservancy and reserve including the Big Five of Africa, over 450 species of birds and many more. Your AfricanMecca tour of Masai Mara National Reserve will be an experience filled with wonder as you learn about the inimitable phenomenon, the migration of wildebeest, elands, gazelles and zebras that travels through the reserve and conservancies each year from the months of July to October. Return to the camp for your meals in the dining area or if the weather conditions are clear, you can have them in the open, under the acacia trees. But if you choose to stay out all day long on your game drives, Kicheche Bush Camp can arrange for a tasty picnic meal in the bush. Back at the camp, you can spend your afternoons relaxing in the tranquil shade while birds serenade you with their songs. As the golden evening settles over Masai Mara, you can have sundowner drinks around a campfire and relive every thrilling moment of your day on your AfricanMecca trip in Kenya. Your stay in the traditional bush tents is an adventure by itself, and after dark, a Maasai escort will walk you to your room. Lighted by solar power, the tents are roomy with either double beds or twin beds made of Podocarpus conifer wood and one of the tents can accommodate a third bed as per your request. Natural-tone rugs underfoot give a comfortable feel to the tent that also includes side tables and lamps. Large netted windows allow in the scents, sounds and light of the wilderness while the covered patio in the front and the outdoor hammock is perfect for relaxing. Use the collapsible closet to unpack for your outback vacation in Kenya and enjoy warm bucket showers in the en-suite bathroom. But there is a lot more for you. Explore the spirit of Masai Mara by taking nature walks in the verdant bush where your naturalist guide will introduce you to the flora, insect life, trails, carcasses, droppings and so much more. Or go for a dawn hot air balloon ride for an aerial view of the stunning topography and its denizens and finally complementing your photographic travels in East Africa with a culturally enriching visit to the Maasai village close by.
