GUIDE ON PORINI CHEETAH CAMP IN KENYA
Navigation Tip - Go Directly To Prices, Reviews, Map, Photos, Video & Room Rate Guide For Porini Cheetah Camp
Belonging to the Porini chain of safari camps in Kenya, the Porini Cheetah Camp is located within the Ol Kinyei Conservancy. Cradled between the White Rock at one side and marshland on the other, this deluxe holiday stayover is the perfect location for wildlife viewing. Like the locals reveal, the swamp is fed by a subterranean stream and located close to the Olare Lemunyi water system which keeps it green all through the year.
Look forward to viewing different species of animals visiting the swamp to drink while a climb up White Rock will treat you to superb panoramas of the landscape of the conservancy sitting on the edge of the famous Masai Mara National Reserve. Solar panels generate power for lighting the tented rooms, and the camp operates with careful regard for the delicate ecosystem of the Mara.
The Porini Cheetah Camp has just 6 tented rooms that vacationers can book for their trip in the Masai Mara. Built out of sustainable materials like mesh and canvas, the rooms are set up on a flattened platform of stones covered with tarp. You will enjoy staying in the simplistic yet deluxe rooms that include the comforts you may need such as area rugs, chairs, a wood frame open rack for unpacking, pedestal fan, small dresser, and a luggage table.
Each of the tented rooms has a double bed along with a single and can sleep up to 3 guests including a child traveling with parents. The ensuite bathroom features a single basin with towel stand and shower area. Your room will also have a spacious patio outside with a seating arrangement for viewing the activities at the swamp. The camp will also set up a fourth bed on request for an added guest.
Using the freshest of inputs sourced from local farms, the chef prepares delicious meals for guests that are served in the mess tent. Dine of a range of local and global cuisine including dishes to meet special dietary preferences with prior notice. After your morning game drive, you can choose to have a bush breakfast or return to the camp. Later, spend time in the lounge, nap, or go on nature walks before lunch. Before dinner, you can enjoy sundowner drinks on White Rock while reveling in the fabulous sunsets over the Mara.
Your stay at the camp is only a prelude to the wonders of the Masai Mara that you will see on your game drives. Awaken each morning to the fragrance of tea and coffee, songs of the birds, and calls of animals. A mother cheetah could teach her cubs to hunt of a herd of elephants might pass by trunks waving in the air.
But, the highlight of your tour is certainly the Great Wildebeest Migration that passes through the Mara in the months from July through October. Note that it is a long ride the public reserve. These are the best times to visit when massive herds of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles thunder across the plains. Visitors often speak about the thrill of watching the herbivores struggle to escape alive as they cross rivers swarming with ravenous crocodiles waiting to pick off their numbers.
Other prime activities in the Ol Kinyei Conservancy that you must go on include night game drives, walking safaris tours to meet the tiniest denizens of the bush, and cultural visits to the nearby Maasai village. You can also opt for an exciting balloon safari in the public reserve where you will waft over the golden savannahs on gentle breezes to view the spellbinding sunrises.
