Resting atop a hill in the picturesque Mara Naboisho Conservancy with the glorious bushland spread all around you, shimmering a gorgeous golden with copses of greenery and animals wandering, is the Basecamp Eagle View. Built using eco-friendly materials, this neo-modest camp will charm you with its pastoral appeal. White-washed mud walls supported by a frame of rough tree trunks with canvas roofs and stone-wooden floors house the common areas of the camp. You could spend peaceful hours on your intimate trip in Kenya simply lounging in the comfortable sofas as your electronics charge or outside on the viewing patio watching the wildlife drink from the watering hole a short distance away. The dining area is also located at this level and as you have your meals, you could watch eagles and vultures wheeling by scanning the land for a compromised or unattended prey. While staying at this unfenced camp during your adventure holiday in the wild plains of Africa, you will have many thrilling moments like nocturnal sounds of an elephant or buffalo feeding on dense foliage outside your tented room. Askaris (camp guards) that patrol the camp at night will escort AfricanMecca boarders to their room after dinner. The camp has 9 tents in all, some with double beds and others with twin single beds. Each of the tents is erected on elevated wooden platforms that are extended out to form wide patios so you can enjoy the breath-taking views of the conservancy. Large mesh windows keep you in constant contact with the wilderness, but you can drop the canvas flaps for privacy. At night, hot water bottles are placed in your bed to combat the cool highland air. The en-suite bathroom comes with twin basins and both an indoor and outdoor open-air shower experience on your authentic tour of Kenya. For an up-close view of the wildlife you watch from your vantage viewing post, you could go on traditional game drives in the private conservancy and optionally in the public game reserve. View the Big Five of Africa, the leopard, elephant, buffalo, rhino and lion. Masai Mara is also home to over 450 species of striking birds as well as a diversity of mammals. In the months from July to October, you could witness the wildebeest migration as it passes through the Masai Mara from on its onward journey back to the Serengeti. The Maasai guide accompanying you is well-versed in the habits and behavior of the fauna, and as you bush travel through the Masai Mara National Reserve in a custom-built safari vehicle, he will reveal to you many interesting specifics and snippets of information. Nature walks in the bush are expeditions of wonder as you explore a mini-ecosystem of tiny insects, amphibians and reptiles alongside diverse floral treasures, some used for medicinal purposes. Later, a visit to the Maasai village close by could be an enriching tour where you peek into their fascinating customs and rites of passage that have evolved over the centuries from a deep communion with nature. Return to Basecamp Eagle View for your breakfast after your morning game drive or you can have an optional, private bush lunch as part of your extended full day activity (bookable via AfricanMecca). Every evening a fire is lit around which you can relive every moment of your day with cocktails in hand and watch as the sun sets over the plains bathing it in a warm, orange glow. Enjoy your meals under the African night sky, lighted with shooting stars to the sounds of lions roaring in the distance, a fitting end to your day on your Kenya dream wildlife vacation.
