Awaken at daybreak to the sight of baboons looking for a meal outside your tent or elephants perched precariously on the steep banks of the nearby river, gashing apart trees for their luscious bark. Crocodiles keep a lazy eye out for careless, thirsty visitors and hippos peek at you, almost entirely submerged in the water. These are your experiences on your stay at the Tipilikwani Mara Camp while holidaying in Masai Mara with AfricanMecca Safaris. A deluxe accommodation, the camp is sprawled on the edges of the Talek River with easy access to the eastern sector of the reserve. Its location is also such that you can view the wildebeest and zebras grazing in the Masai Mara on their Great Migration during the months from July through October. You will be welcomed into the main reception and lounge area of the accommodation that will charm you with their fused lodge-camp appeal created by the thatched roofs supported with poles, canvas-mesh side walls and cool interiors with straw-yellow colored mud and stone walls enlivened with colorful throw rugs and discerning artifacts. Wi-Fi is available in the lounge area. Tipilikwani Mara offers a collection of 20 spacious tented rooms to guests traveling in south-western Kenya. Twelve of their tents have twin queen-size beds while four of them have comfortable king size beds. They also have four tents divided into two family suites, each comprising of two connected room with a detached bathtub and shower. On chilly nights, the staff provides hot water bottles to keep you warm and cozy. Overlooking the river, each canvas tent is erected on an elevated wooden platform with a wide patio outside for enjoying the sights and sounds of Masai Mara on your wildebeest migration trip to East Africa. Netted windows let in the scents of the wilderness and the cool breezes while the light, white curtains lend a dreamy classic ambience of the tent. A wooden chest is placed in the room for your things while the basic wood-crafted seating arrangement and dresser add a pastoral touch. The en-suite bathroom includes a shower cubicle, bath mat and twin basins with quality toiletries for your use. Your tent also includes power outlets so you can charge your electronics. Tipilikwani Tented Camp serves buffet meals or served table d'hot in the dining tent. Vegetarian and other special meals can be catered for. Should you wish to stay out all day on your game drives, the camp provides packed lunches and also optionally offers bush breakfast and bush dinner experience while touring in this expanse of Kenya. As you leave for game drives in the early morning, and late afternoon, an experienced and expert AfricanMecca guide will accompany you in your custom-fitted safari vehicle. You will be amazed by the keen knowledge he displays of the Masai Mara Game Reserve and touched by the fierce pride he has for his homeland. Listen to him talk about the over 450 species of birds you can see and diversity of mammals including the Big Five of Africa, the lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino and elephant (read more on when is the best time to travel to MasaiMara). Also explore the landscape with bush walks or by balloon rides and take an enriching cultural tour of the local Maasai village. As you head back to your tented camp after a long wondrous day of your dream vacation in the outback of Africa, a Maasai escort will walk with you with a torch with watchful bush skills to safely turn you in for the night so that you can fall asleep to the sounds of might elephants trumpeting, majestic lions roaring or perhaps cunning hyenas laughing at some private joke.
