Olerai House is a mid-range, choice accommodation located on the western shore of Lake Naivasha. You find yourself surrounded by 400 acres of pristine central Kenyan bush that is designated as a wildlife sanctuary. The Twiga and Nodvu rooms are situated in a separate, private house, and both rooms offer unsurpassed views of hippos grazing in the evenings. Twiga is the Swahili word for “giraffe,” and this room is designed to celebrate the elegant beauty of this animal.

The room feels light and airy and features a centered bed with netting, vaulted ceiling, ample windows and shower made of blue glass. Outside your room, resident giraffes nibble on the foliage that line the roof. Ndovu, Swahili for “elephant,” was once used as a writing room for the Douglas-Hamilton family, and the room still maintains the ambience of an author’s library, such as wood paneling, large double bed, curved sofa inset by its bay window and much more.
