GUIDE ON LAKE ELMENTEITA SERENA CAMP IN KENYA
Navigation Tip - Go Directly To Prices, Reviews, Map, Photos, Video & Room Rate Guide For Lake Elmenteita Serena Camp
For an authentic Kenyan Great Rift Valley safari experience with AfricanMecca, stay at the mid-range Lake Elmenteita Serena Camp. The accommodation features 24 guest tents with beautiful wood furnishings, traditional colonial safari styling and rich color accents that will take you back to a time when the East African bush was first being explored. Just outside your door is the Soysambu Conservancy that was once owned by one of Kenya's early pioneers -- Lord Delamere, and since 2006, the 48,000-acre conservancy has worked as a non-profit to preserve the wilderness and fauna that exists today. Set amongst manicured lawns, tall trees and winding stone paths are 25 impeccably designed guest tents, each featuring a centrally-located bed draped with mosquito netting, sitting area, writing desk and chair, private veranda with safari-style furniture and spectacular views. To further enhance a romantic honeymooner’s trip in Kenya, we recommend the luxurious Flamingo Suite, featuring a Jacuzzi for easing tired muscles and large lounging area for engaging romantic or family evening conversations. If vacation peace and privacy are important to you during your wilderness travel in East Africa, choose a guest tent that is situated away from the reception. Guests with mobility issues, though, should choose a tent near reception for convenient access to the common areas on the property. Start your day with a delightful cup of tea or coffee served with light biscuits before joining your experienced and knowledgeable guide for a morning game drive. Two of the most exciting animals to watch for are the endangered Rothschild giraffes and the dual tone Colobus monkeys. Plains game, such as elands, zebras, gazelles, waterbucks and other foraging herbivores are also found in the conservancy, as are jackals, leopards, caracals and other shy predators. A full breakfast at the camp satisfies your appetite just in time for a late morning photo tour of Lake Elmenteita or visit the Sogonoi Boutique for gifts and sundries. After lunch, take a quiet nap on veranda, enjoy a massage or cool off in the swimming pool. Afternoon tea is served before your end of day game drive followed by sundowners in the bush or at the camp. The setting sun transforms the landscape, and you may notice that the energy of nature changes. The animals begin to settle in for the night, and you can almost hear the hyenas and other stealthy nighttime predators begin to grow restless. Because the conservancy is not restricted in activities like national parks and game reserves, after dinner you can head out again for a night game drive to view wildlife behaviors that only occur in the shroud of darkness. These viewing drives are sure to be one of the most intriguing parts of your adventurous Kenyan holiday. AfricanMecca guests also have the option of extending your game drive to Lake Nakuru National Park or boat ride in Lake Naivasha at a supplementary cost.
