GIRAFFE MANOR IN NAIROBI
Navigation Tip - Go Directly To Prices, Reviews, Map, Photos, Video & Room Rate Guide For Giraffe Manor
If you seek the graceful giraffe during your bush tour of Kenya, a stay at Giraffe Manor will give you one-on-one and once-in-a-life-time experiences with these incredible animals. Set on twelve acres of private land that is located less than 12 miles from the Nairobi’s city center and 18 miles from JKI Airport, the hotel maintains much of the original 1932 design while offering you all of the modern amenities you require for your stay. What truly sets Giraffe Manor apart from other travel accommodations in Kenya, though, are the resident Rothschild Giraffe that roam freely on the property and you don’t need to worry about trying to sight these creatures on its grounds as they regularly stick their heads through open windows and over balconies to garner feed pellets from AfricanMecca guests. All of the 12 rooms offer a cozy setting to relax and prepare for the day’s activities, but the room you choose may affect the interactions you have with the giraffes. The balconies of the Daisy and Betty Rooms are excellent for outdoor feeding, and the giraffes can also be feed from the window of the Kelly Room. The most spectacular experience with the giraffes, though, may be Jock Room where you can actually feed a giraffe from the comfort of your bed! If you are choosing an accommodation for a small group or family tour of Kenya, the lodge offers two large suites – Finch Hatton and Karen Blixen, although the giraffes are not as active and accessible near these rooms, but they are always present in the breakfast room, and you may also see other fauna on the property, such as tiny dik diks, subtle stripped and marked bushbucks, tusked warthogs and few others, and more than 180 species of avi-fauna have been identified on the hotel grounds. In 2017, Giraffe Manor added two rooms to its intimate collection. Edd is located on the ground floor while Salma is located on the upper floor. When you are not feeding the giraffes or reveling in the breathtaking views of the Ngong Hills from your room, you can pursue delectable meal selections for your gastronomical pleasure. Each morning you join other guests for breakfast in the sun room, where you are once again delighted by the presence of the giraffes. Weather permitting, lunch may be served outdoors, and as the evening draws close, cocktails are served around a cozy fire. Dinner is a splendid occasion at Giraffe Manor with cuisine that represents a fusion of traditional and international ingredients that are perfectly blended to satisfy your appetite. Additionally, every honeymooner and couple’s dream holiday in Africa is exceptionally romantic as you savor the flavors under the starry night sky illuminated only by traditional safari lanterns. Your guided day tours of Nairobi with AfricanMecca can include an educational visit to Daphne Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage, or some of the other local attractions, such as the city’s historical and cultural sites, Karen Blixen Museum, Nairobi National Park and Museum, just to name a few of the prime destinations in the area (read more on when is the best time to visit Nairobi on an East Africa safari). These activities are sure to leave you feeling bushed, so you may prefer to pre-arrange a relaxing massage for your stay at Giraffe Manor.
