THE EMAKOKO IN NAIROBI
Navigation Tip - Go Directly To Prices, Reviews, Map, Photos, Video & Room Rate Guide For The Emakoko
Build your anticipation of a dream vacation to Kenya, The Emakoko is located at the edge of Nairobi National Park. Your transfer to lodge will be via the park, even at night. Just 10 miles from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, the lodge offers a relaxing setting amongst the flora and fauna with the sounds of the wilderness lulling you to sleep, and not the hoots of the Nairobi traffic. The family-owned and operated hotel features 10 cottage rooms, all tastefully designed to remind you of the traditional yet urban accommodations that are found in East Africa’s protected wilderness areas. Open beam ceilings, natural stone features, canopies and safari-style furnishings give you a personal luxury retreat during your stopover trip to Nairobi so that you can easily transition between your extensive international travel and memorable escape into the African bush. Situated on 15 acres of far-flung Nairobi wilderness, this boutique lodge is built into the side of a valley that borders the Mbagathi River, which is fed by the Emakoko River. The natural features of the terrain create two distinct levels of guest rooms, and the higher level requires a walk up a steep hill with approximately 90+ steps, making these rooms more demanding to reach should you have any physical limitations. If you are planning a family safari in Africa, your children may enjoy the eye-level views that are offered at the lower level of the property ensuring a more bosom fauna viewing experience. No matter where your room is located on the property, though, you have the breathtaking views that you desire, as the lower level allows you to observe grazing herbivores and the upper level offer vast vistas of the African landscape. The rooms have no air-conditioning; however, the cool climate of Nairobi and the tender breezes will provide hospitable solace. Your journey to the hotel feels more like a safari game drive in Kenya than a simple transfer between the airport and your lodging, and, upon arrival, you are greeted with a refreshing drink, moist hand towel and warm hospitality. As you spend time at the accommodation, you begin to appreciate the personalized service and uncanny ability of the staff to anticipate your needs. In the morning, awaken to the rising sun and enjoy a freshly-brewed cup of the finest Kenyan coffee or tea followed by a lovely hot breakfast in the hotel’s restaurant or in the privacy of your room. Cape buffalo, giraffe, waterbuck and even the most exotic hotel residents -- an orphaned impala and hippo, are your companions in the picturesque setting at The Emakoko while you lounge by the pool, enjoy the delicious food and sip your sunset cocktail. AfricanMecca Safaris arranges transfer and guided tour activities for your holiday destinations in Nairobi, and some of the most popular attractions near Nairobi are within easy reach of the accommodation, such as Giraffe Center, Karen Blixen Museum, game drives in Nairobi National Park, cultural tours of local villages and guided walking tours of the city that may include street markets, museums, galleries, shops and much more (read more on when is the best time to visit Nairobi in Kenya).
