Navigation Tip - Go Directly To Prices, Reviews, Map, Photos, Video & Room Rate Guide For Nairobi Tented Camp
Begin your dream safari in Kenya with AfricanMecca within minutes of leaving Jomo Kenyatta International Airport as you enter Nairobi National Park for an en-route game drive until you reach Nairobi Tented Camp. With the city skyline in the distance, you sleep under the stars in a traditional canvas tent amidst the wildlife of the only preserve in the world that is located near a capital city. The 8 tents are designed to give you an authentic safari experience that is the highlight of your bush tour of East Africa, such as bucket shower, gas and kerosene lanterns, sheep skin rugs and breathtaking views of the valley and forest. For your convenience, your tent also includes an en-suite bathroom, bedside tables, wardrobe, writing desk and private veranda with safari-style chairs and table. Your days are spent much like those that await you in the remote African wilderness – the sunrise gently awakens you to the sounds of wildlife and cool morning air touches your face. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee and tea brings you outdoors to your veranda where you snuggle deeply into a plush blanket as you watch for the movement of grazing herbivore, such as giraffe, buffalo, rhino, impala, zebra, wildebeest and many others, and you may even try your hand at identifying bird species, as there are over 500 found in the park. Dining at Nairobi Tented Camp will also remind you of a traditional safari holiday in Africa, with hearty breakfasts, light lunches and romantic candle-lit dinners. The menu is set each day by the chef based on the availability of fresh local produce, meat and other ingredients. A morning meal of muesli, eggs, fried potatoes, bacon and fresh fruits prepares you for a game drive tour of Nairobi National Park, and when you return to the camp you will be delighted with edible creations, such as pork chops with sage, roasted potatoes, minted fresh pineapple salad and more before drifting off to sleep on a hammock. Head out for your afternoon game drive before returning to the camp in the evening where you will gather with other guests around the campfire for sunset cocktails and share plans and stories of action-packed safari travel opportunities in Kenya. Gracefully wait as the chef finalizes his preparations of delectable selection of meats, vegetables, such as parmesan gnocchi, buttery mashed potatoes, Provencal beef paupiettes, followed by a dessert that will thrill your taste buds. With Nairobi so close-at-hand, you may desire an urban experience to complement the exhilaration of your AfricanMecca wilderness holiday with a guided city tour and visits to the most popular local shopping attractions, such as Kazuri Beads, Utamaduni, Maasai Market. The Giraffe Center and neighboring Elephant Orphanage will give you the opportunity to see animals up-close, and the Karen Blixen Museum enlightens you about the historical life of the Danish author of “Out of Africa.”
