Stunning Serengeti Wildebeest Migration & Fantastic Selous Safari
Stunning Serengeti Wildebeest Migration & Fantastic Selous Safari !
Mambo Raza,
We are at the end of our trip for Chloe and I. We are going separate ways today already ) : I just want to say thank you for your assistance for these past months. The planning and professionalism were superb and I can’t thank you enough for your assistance when I had my eye infection when on safari in the Selous. My eye is perfect now and I have been taking extra caution especially in Zanzibar with bugs flying into our eyes at night. We rode a scooter for 3 days with helmets without shields. We made our way from Pongwe to Stonetown for a day with a mild fall at the chaotic city.
We were able to explore Pongwe, Paje, Jambiani, Matemwe, Kendwa, Stonetown and go diving in Mnemba toll which was terrific! We made many local friends and were able to witness the beautiful Eid celebrations. We left Zanzibar yesterday and we are both extremely sad. All our flights are sorted with all the airlines so its good- we can go home. I am still awaiting a reviewed medical report from Aga Khan Hospital in Dar es Salaam which i will keep bugging them for my travel insurance.
We are very pleased with our safaris and very humbled to experience them. Many people asked us about how we met, if we were possibly a couple too and most definitely if we were students with rich parents.
The stay in Mbalageti Serengeti Lodge was extremely pleasant. We had the best accommodation with the upgrade. Staff were very hospitable. We also had a great chat with the dutch manager there. We are pleased with the guide assigned to us, Gabriel. He was efficient and has a perfect eye to spot animals. He had two binoculars for us to use was perfect. We had 1 perfect day of exploring central Serengeti and a 2nd day at the Western Corridor where we witnessed too many Serengeti wildebeest for its migration. It was stunning!
But after a few hours, we wanted to see other things but there were not many. The resident lodge guide, Gabriel was fantastic except his English wasn’t very understandable… we struggled a little asking him questions about animals and himself etc but it was difficult to get a good reply. Chloe loves animals and she likes to ask many questions. We do also note the guide was not directly engaged under Mbalageti, unlike the guides in Lake Manze. Still we are very pleased with his service and effort.
One thing however we were rather unsatisfied was the lunch box provided by Mbalageti on two occasions – 1 during our first day and last day. We paid a lot of money for this and we expected more for lunch. The main bit was that it was a very uninteresting lunch. With a tough bread, with extremely little shredding chicken with completely no vegetables or sauces for the sandwich. We did not enjoy it completely at all. We mainly ate just the shredded chicken with chilli sauce. Despite that, the meals at Mbalageti itself were superb. It has to be our best breakfast and dinner and we were very happy.
Lake Manze Camp in the Selous was fantastic the moment we were received by Shaun and Milly. They were very organised, personal and friendly. We had the time of our lives. We had a total of 2 different guides and 2 different drivers for the 3 days we were there. We went to full day safaris, day drives, boat safaris. It was the best safari we ever had because we were so up close with all the amazing animals and we had a way better vehicle that was open from every side. Even though the roads were crazier, the wild rustic charm was unbelievable.
Every night we ate together on a table under the stars with other guests. We made great friendships along over there, and definitely memories of a lifetime. I cant thank Shaun and Milly and the guides enough because they were so supportive and concern about my eye situation especially when it happened that night..
All in all, Chloe and i had an amazing time. We are so sad to leave already. We would still want to do Kilimanjaro next time and visit other parts of Africa. You have been the most helpful Raza, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I just hope everything works out with my insurance claims from my illness and I will be happier.
Let me know in anyways if you need references or something I would gladly do so.
Regards,
Sylvia Ng and Chloé Burgueño Rousnet
