Amazing Kenya Trip To Amboseli, Lewa & Masai Mara Migration Safari

I must apologize for my delinquency in getting back to you!!!

If ONLY I could go back to Kenya TOMORROW I would!! We had an amazing, awesome, fabulous (not enough great adjectives to describe) trip and I only wish I had been financially able to make it longer and perhaps go to Rwanda to see the gorillas!  If I were to go back I would only make a few minor changes which I will let you know about in a bit.  Most of the connections were smooth except one in, I believe, Nairobi at the end and that was because our flight from Masai Mara to Nairobi was almost an hour late.

Daphne Sheldrick Orphanage — I wish I had known that for personal interaction with the babies I needed to make a donation of $50/mo. – If I had know ahead of time I would have had more time to think about it and do it.

Amboseli– OMG like the Garden of Eden and so beautiful and our lodge (Elerai Camp) was nice too.

Lewa – We enjoyed the wildlife, the trip to the Masai village, trip to the ‘forest’ and we LOVED LOVED LOVED everything about the lodge (the food, the décor, the ambiance and the grounds) and the managers were absolutely charming, so informative and wonderful!!!! We were so happy to have had the most time at this wonderful place.

Masai Mara – Governor’s seemed like it was not within the same ‘theme’ as the rest of our VERY personalized trip as there were so many people at Governor’s — we heard about Little Governor’s from some people from the US who were at the Lewa Safari Camp, and it did seem more in line with the rest of our mid-sized lodge experiences. The safari experiences here were amazing!

My biggest disappointment was that I expected to go on a balloon safari and found out it was all booked when we got there, as it is such a HUGE attraction especially during the Great Migration and it would have been great to have been told to book ahead of time as it is one of the biggest attractions in the Masai Mara. I admit to not saying anything about that beforehand to you either, but being that it is such a big attraction it might be a good suggestion for you to mention on future trips you book?

Masai Mara – Royal Mara – Again the safari experiences were amazingly wonderful!  The lodge here was beautiful as well.  There were a few challenges with being able to charge our cameras and phones as generator power was intermittent and our safari jeep was very old and did not have the charging receptacles that the jeep in Lewa had, so we were sure to have all our picture-taking apparatus fully charged at all times!

So, Raza aside from the few things mentioned above – our trip was amazing and we saw everything we hoped to see and much more – as I said I would go back tomorrow if I could and I’m sure you will hear from Scott as well!  Thank you so much for all your help in planning and making sure we had the experience of a lifetime.  Hope to talk to you sooner rather than later for another wonderful experience, but  I probably won’t be able to do another trip like this for several years– 🙁
