A Perfect Unforgettable Kenya Safari & Beach Honeymoon

We booked our honeymoon with AfricanMecca after recommendations from work colleagues who had used their services. We travelled in March 2007. I could not praise Altaf for his planning highly enough. He made it seem so easy, well, on our part anyhow. We had decided on an overnight in Nairobi followed by 3 nights safari at Samburu & 3 nights at Masai Mara & then 6 nights on the beach near Mombasa.

Through Altaf’s work we stayed overnight at the Panari Hotel in Nairobi where we were greeted with rose petals on our room floor & fresh cut fruit. The staff went out of their way to make our short stay wonderful. We then flew from Wilson airport to the Samburu Serena Lodge for the most wonderful 3 days ever. Our guide, Nicholas was brilliant. You couldn’t want anything more at the lodge & on the safaris (2 per day) we saw lots of wildlife including the Samburu.

The weather was quite hot but there was a cooling breeze on the game drives. Then, another flight to Governors Camp at Masai Mara where we had a different type of experience, staying in luxury tents. As honeymooners they had put us in a tent far away from everyone else for our privacy. Here there were 3 game drives per day with plenty to see but there is more when the wildebeest are migrating later in the year. As there were no fences around the camp you could not move at night without the aid of a guard as animals were free to move around the camp during darkness, which they did regularly.

This all added to the atmosphere of “real Africa”. Lying in bed at night listening to the animals & thunder storms (it rained here most nights & was hot during the day) made it a memorable experience. The staff were eager to please. We were allocated our own food waiter, our own drinks waiter & our own tent waiter. Next stop was Diani Beach & Spa Resort near Mombasa. Again, what a wonderful hotel, really top class. If you are staying in this area, this is the place to go. The only downfall at this time of year was it was far too hot for us here, even the sea was hot! The food in Kenya was great at all the places we visited & the staff friendly & helpful.

All this happened on time without any hitches whatsoever. Thanks to Altaf. All it took from us was a few phone calls & emails to Altaf & hey presto a perfect unforgettable honeymoon. I can’t recommend them enough & in a few years when we return, I know who we will be booking with again.
