Part 4 – How Long To Go On An African Safari – Trip Planning Guide
Published By AfricanMecca Safaris | Blog Categories: Safari Planning.
When choosing how long your safari will last, you need to consider how to get the best possible value from your journey. In general, the actual airfare to your holiday destination in Africa costs less if you can book well in advance and is best to cover as much time and as many activities as possible in the single trip based on your budget and travel preferences. We recommend planning the safari trip logistics correctly to avoid backtracking to the original arrival point.
AfricanMecca Safaris can help you plan and plot the logistics correctly. Of course, if you can afford the time to visit several parks in multiple countries, it is better to group activities in adjacent areas, such as a visit to Victoria Falls in Zambia or Zimbabwe by the mighty Zambezi River combined with Chobe National Park and Okavango Delta in Botswana and ending with Kruger National Park in South Africa.
Make a northern circuit tour of Tanzania with Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti or simply trail to Amboseli, Nakuru-Naivasha, Laikipia or Samburu and Masai Mara in the magical Kenya with an extension to see the mountain gorillas in Bwindi in Uganda or Volcanoes National Park near Kinigi, Rwanda. Alternatively, contrast a distinct experience of the Skeleton Coast of Namibia with a dunes trip to Sossusvlei ending with exploring the Kalahari Desert pan of Etosha.
You must also consider your own age and health. You are planning a wilderness trip, not an endurance test, and you do not want to attempt so much that it becomes an ordeal rather than a pleasure. Also, costs are a factor. If you have more available to spend, then opt for a longer safari with varied experiences in multi-countries in Eastern, Central and Southern Africa as this could only be your first and last opportunity to visit mother Africa. Decide if you want to spend seven to ten days on an engaging tour or two to three weeks on a varied, slow paced and stimulating program.
There is so much to choose between, from horse-riding, ballooning and white-water rafting to specialist birdwatching, photography, fishing, scuba diving, mountain climbing and trekking, wildlife game viewing, walking safaris, cultural and historical tours from various adventure vacation destinations.
It may be best to combine an exhilarating experience, such as a wilderness safari in Sabi Sand in Kruger, with a leisurely tour of the South Africa’s Garden Route ending at Cape Town or after trek in the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro and safari in Selous and Katavi, relax in a barefoot beach location on the islands of Zanzibar, Mafia, Pemba or even on Lake Tanganyika with the opportunity to safari track wild Tanzania chimpanzees of Mahale and Gombe.
AfricanMecca Safaris will be delighted to suggest the best combination of destinations for the vacationing time that you have for a seamlessly delightful dream safari.
